Who is Meshugenah?

We are! We are Marcia Press and Carla Press, identical twins with a long history of adventures (and misadventures). Our current enterprise is the Meshugenah Hat Company, llc. founded in 2015.

We both have a unique sense of fashion and design. Our mother’s fashion sense is legendary amongst family and friends. Her exotic looks and self confidence, enabled her to wear bold, trend setting outfits that turned heads everywhere she went. And, of course, no outfit was complete until it included a unique hat. She epitomized, “you only get one chance to make a first impression.” Hence, at an early age we discovered that dress-up was an art form — a means of self expression.

Since we have always enjoyed distinctive textiles, fashions, and homegoods, we decided it was high time to create some fun for others too! Given that we love to combine textures and colors, we knew that whenever possible our products had to be reversible. One canvas just wasn’t enough to say what we wanted!

We draw our inspiration from all things vintage. We pride ourselves on the unique choice of high end fabrics which we use for our hat and accessory designs. Our hope is that our customers will wear Meshugenah Hats with confidence and a happy sense of self.

Marcia Press

Marcia, the accessory designer and primary decision maker, is a trained painter and designer, specializing in color and texture. Her experience as a textile/wallpaper stylist and art director trained her to interpret color and fashion trends (she was skeptical of the Christmas tree skirt). Some of our vintage fabrics are ones that she created early in her career!
