We honor our relatives – genetic and adopted – that helped to make us who we are by naming our products for them. We are the sum of our parts.
Gertie – Though our beloved grandmother, Gertie, never quite reached 5 feet tall, her compact body held more kindness, generosity, and spunk than one could imagine. The first of her generation to fly in an airplane, and learn to drive a car (nevermind she drove it through the showroom window), she was a model of the “modern” woman. So, it makes sense that the Gertie hat is the diminutive version of the Dora.
